Kuala Lumpur is a city of contrasts: the space-age feel of the iconic Petronas Towers and the glossy shopping malls and luxury hotels which surround them are a stone’s throw from faded colonial style buildings and ancient temples. The highlight of my time here was my visit to the remarkable Batu Caves on the outskirts of the city – one of the country’s most sacred Hindu shrines, super colourful and a hive of activity, busy with local and visiting worshippers.
