David D’Arcy

Travel Designer

My passion for travel began when I moved abroad to Spain at 19. Since then I’ve particularly enjoyed my travels through South East Asia and Australasia. I’ve been lucky enough to call Australia and New Zealand home, living there for 4.5 years in various places. Among the many highlights of that time was my stay in the Outback in Australia and living on an island nature reserve. My favourite things about travelling are meeting new people, experiencing different cultures and eating my way around the world. I believe you have not experienced a country until you’ve had their food. I also love nature so I’m totally at home climbing a peak or exploring a national park. I also love diving even if I can only doggy paddle! It’s awesome seeing wildlife underwater and living my Ariel fantasy.

Best Destination for Families

Western Australia

Western Australia would be amazing as you've got Rottnest Island which has beaches and wildlife, camels in Broome, tree top adventures and swimming holes in national parks.

On my bucket list

Borneo

I'd love to travel to Borneo. It was a cancelled COVID plan that I've not managed to get back around to exploring. I loved Malaysia and Indonesia, so Borneo with its wildlife, cuisine and forests are all up my street. Seeing orangutans in the wild is also a dream of mine.

Luxury Bali, Lombok and Java Explorer

Of all the trips we showcase on our website, this one hits most of my travel 'must haves': Food, hiking, beaches, local villages and traditions. Having visited most of the places in this itinerary I feel it gives a perfect taste of Indonesia.

My top tips

If you are to travel to Bangkok, the best way to see the city is at night on a river cruise. You see all the sites lit up while getting wined and dined

When in Sydney, take a day trip out to the Blue Mountains. Gorgeous Scenery, less than 1 hour from Sydney with ample wildlife

New Zealand has the clearest skies in the world. Go a stargazing tour in Lake Tekapo to see the best night skies

While in Indonesia, learn how to Scuba you can do four day courses and become fully certified while enjoying Island life in your spare time
