Itinerary in detail

Every Jacada trip and safari is tailored to your personal preferences and interests. Below you’ll find a sample itinerary to inspire your own custom-designed journey.

Days 1–2

Arrival in Johannesburg

Your trip begins as you fly into Johannesburg for a night’s layover and rest. On arrival at Johannesburg airport you will be met airside by a Jacada representative, fast-tracked through immigration and assisted with baggage collection. Before flying across the border to your first lodge or camp, you’ll have a free evening to enjoy this lively metropolitan city with our list of recommendations.

Days 2–6

On safari in Hwange National Park

Your safari experience begins in Hwange National Park, where you’ll encounter the depth and breadth of the country’s wildlife – heard, tracked and observed almost all to yourself. This is Zimbabwe’s largest national park, a natural paradise renowned worldwide for its stupendous game viewing. The park is home to huge numbers of elephants, African wild dogs, lions and buffalos, which you might spot peacefully drinking at a waterhole or amid a thrilling pursuit.

Days will fly by observing these majestic animals, soaking up sensational, firey sunsets and sipping cool sundowners at your luxury lodge.

Days 6–8

The marvels of Mana Pools National Game Park

In the very remote, beautiful and UNESCO-awarded Mana Pools, you’ll experience a safari in the pristine and watery world of the Lower Zambezi Valley. The common wildlife sightings on your walking, 4WD or canoe safaris include elephant, hippo, crocodile and vibrant birdlife, plus other predators that roam unchecked in this unfenced park.

You might track lions and head out on thrilling game drives before spending an unforgettable night high in a star bed treehouse, lulled to sleep by the sounds of the animals roaming beneath you.

Canoe safaris and tracking wild dogs on foot in Mana Pools rank among the highlights of my 25 years of African safari experience.

Days 8–10

Two days exploring Victoria Falls

Finally, it’s a restful and luxurious two-night stay on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls. Here, along the southern banks of the Zambezi River, you can see the largest volume of water thundering over the falls. The sight is simply astonishing. Different viewpoints allow you to witness the power of the cascades as they plunge through a series of gorges.

Your travel designer can arrange tours of the falls by foot, sunset river cruises and excursions into Victoria Falls town, depending on your preferences.

On a cruise

Tour both sides of the falls

Witness the incredible waters of Victoria Falls from both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides. A knowledgeable guide will take you on an unforgettable experience of the falls, otherwise known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning the smoke that thunders. You’ll not only get wonderful views of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World but also learn a great deal about the geology, wildlife and history of one of Africa’s most famous landmarks.

Aboard the Zambezi Explorer

Board the Zambezi Explorer for a luxury cruise up the Zambezi River as the sun sets. The boat has three decks, but you will on the VIP signature deck for the best views, a private bar and comfy couches, the romantic scene complemented by drinks and canapés.
