Provincial charm, boutique wineries, amazing food and relaxation
Just a short drive from Cape Town one enters the verdant, rolling hills of South Africa’s wine country. Home to fantastic wine and some of Africa’s best restaurants.
This is one of the most historic areas of South Africa as it’s where many of the original Dutch settlers first made their homes. Pretty towns and villages adorn the countryside, their white washed Dutch colonial buildings contrasting against the lush greens of vineyards, fields and forests.
There are a huge variety of different vineyards to visit here, ranging from small boutique wineries where you may be shown round by the owners themselves to larger, more modern estates. Aside from grapes, all manner of fresh produce is made here, much of which you will find adorning the plates of the excellent restaurants in the area. In fact, this is something of a culinary hotspot, and you’ll have our recommendations for the best spots.
